If you have a preschool aged child who wants to do what her big sister does, she can be a Girl Sprout! Here are some Girl Sprout resources to get you started.
Many leaders have younger daughters who tag along at meetings or see their big sister get to do fun adventures when she wears her Girl Scout uniform. She wants to do these fun things too, but she is not old enough to be in a Daisy troop.
What can she do?
She can be a Girl Sprout!
What is a Girl Sprout?
A Girl Sprout refers to a young girl, typically around preschool age, who is participating in a program designed to introduce her to the values and activities of Girl Scouts before she officially joins as a “Daisy” member when she enters kindergarten; essentially, it’s a pre-Girl Scout program for very young girls to get them familiar with the organization and its core principles
Girl Sprouts is meant for girls who are about to start kindergarten, allowing them to get a taste of Girl Scouting through fun activities and learning basic concepts like sharing, kindness, and helping others.
Activities for Girl Sprouts
Activities in a Girl Sprout program are usually playful and engaging, incorporating themes like nature, flowers, and a “garden” concept to make it accessible for young children.
The goal is to smoothly transition girls from the “Girl Sprout” stage into becoming full-fledged Girl Scout Daisies once they start kindergarten.
Girl Sprout Uniforms
While there is no official Girl Sprout uniform, what you can do is purchase a child size cobbler’s apron, similar to the blue Daisy tunic. You can find them here at Aprons and Smocks.
Are there Official Girl Sprouts Badges?
No, there are not. Many leaders give their Sprouts fun patches to put on their “uniform”.
