One way to save money is to use Groupon.
You can buy your trip now and save it for later. Before purchasing, make sure that your parents are on board with the date. In order for parents not to waste troop money by RSVPing “yes” and then not showing up, here is a clever strategy for leaders to use.
Have the parents make out a check to the troop for the whole trip or for half of it. If they show up, then you give the parents back the check. If they do not, then you deposit the check into the troop account so you do not lose the money. Parents are less likely to bail on you if they have their own money laid out!
