Do you like how it feels when someone gives you a random compliment out fo the blue? It really makes our day when someone notices your new shirt, tells you out loud at a meeting that you have a great idea and to go with it, or if a parent tells you that her daughter just loves coming to your Girl Scout meetings.
There are times when there is troop drama or when you want to share with the girls how to be kind to others. If you are a Girl Scot Daisy leader, this one is perfect to earn Goria, the purple daisy petal, Respect Myself and Others. One Teachers Pay Teachers, First Grade Fever by Christie has a free downloadable Compliment Flyer.
If you are looking for a meeting idea where you can use this printable, here it is!
Materials
Have You Filled a Bucket Today Book
Metal Buckets
Pack of 100 Stickers Available on Amazon
Meeting Prep and Other Materials Needed
Before the meeting, write each girls name on the bottom of the bucket with a Sharpie.
Print out two flyers for each girl (one for the meeting and one to take home).
Place the same amount of stickers in a baggie for each girl. (no sharing due to Covid)
Sticky note with each girl’s name on it.
Meeting Plan
Talk to the girls about what being kind means. Have them give some examples. Read the book and then tell the girls they are going to decorate their own buckets for the others to fill.
Have the girls decorate their buckets with stickers. Place them on a table spaced apart. Place the sticky note name in front of it.
Hand out the flyers and have the girls cut out each compliment strip.
Have the girls gather the strips and in a safely distant circle, have them place one in each tin.
Leaders will hand the buckets back to the girls and they can look inside and see the compliments put in them. Send the girls home with their bucket and an extra flyer that they can use with other people.
