In my last blog post, 4 Places to Buy Discontinued Girl Scout Badges, a reader asked where she could find the requirements for these badges. Inspired by her question, I found different place where these are available.
Before I share them, I understand the mindset of many Girl Scout leaders. They do not like to spend troop money on things that are not directly going into the hands of the girls. I am here to say that badge books do help the girls. You have the book right by your side and it saves you time hunting down the requirements. I am a firm believer in the adage “time is money”. I value my time and I own many retired badge books, as I bought mine with my own money. I found them at yard sales or Friends of the Library book sales for $1.00 or less. You can spend a few troop dollars on a book that you can resell at a later time to another leader who is looking for one.

Last, but not least, leaders can find requirements for discontinued Girl Scout badges in the files of certain groups. Other leaders have asked for requirements and a person takes a picture of it or type it out and messages it to the person asking.
