It’s exciting to watch your troop grow up. The transformation from Daisies to Juniors happens in the blink of an eye! Now that your troop is in fourth grade, it is time for them to make more decisions on what they want to do. That is key in maintaining their interest at this age.
While having your troop vote on what badges, community service and excursions they want to take, it is also important that you, as their volunteer leader, guide them in the right directions. While some badges can be earned at any time (like the Girl Scout Junior Scribe badge), others fit in best at a specific time of year (like the Democracy for Juniors badge fits in best in October and early November).
During your first Girl Scout Junior meeting of the year, your troop will be voting on the badges they would like to earn. After tallying their votes, you can fit in what they want according to where it fits in best.
In my resource, Girl Scout Junior Eight Meeting Plan Bundle, I have selected resources for you that work well for the first half of the scouting year. They are a mix of badge earning meetings and fun meetings.
After your third meeting, you may want to have a Girl Scout Rededication and Investiture ceremony. Resources for how to have one are available on the link above.

The resources in this bundle are:
- First Girl Scout Junior Meeting of the Year
- Junior Girl Scout Way Badge (a great way to go over Girl Scout traditions and celebrate Founder’s Day)
- Junior Musician Badge (this is a floater meeting you can do any time)
- Halloween Meeting Multi-Level (a fun meeting)
- Junior Outdoor Art Explorer (get outside before it gets too cold)
- Junior Simple Meals Badge for Friendsgiving (earn a badge and celebrate Thanksgiving)
- Junior Social Butterfly Badge Host a Tea Party (you can have an inclusive Winter Wonderland party and earn a badge)
- New Year’s Eve Multi-level Fun Meeting
In addition to these badges, consider earning the Democracy for Juniors badge in the fall so the girls can learn more about how government works.
