An easy to plan meeting, to go along with the Girl Scout Birthday in a Bag community service project, is to have an old fashioned birthday party.
This plan is so easy, an older troop can lead it to earn part of their Girl Scout Way badge, Leader in Training pin, or use for high school community service hours.
For the meeting, ask the girls to bring in items for the goody bags you will be making. If you have 10 scouts, then they need to bring in 10 of the same thing, like 10 mini chocolate bars, 10 stickers, 10 pencils, 10 sucking candies, etc. The items need to be small and inexpensive. Your co-leader and you will want to bring in 10 items of your own, in case one of the girls forgets to bring in her treats for the goody bag.
In addition, girls will need to bring in items for the Birthday in a Bag project or you can use troop funds to purchase what you need.
Easy Girl Scout Founder’s Day Meeting Schedule
After your regular opening, spend some time talking about Juliette Gordon Low. You may want to read a book or parts of a book, about her life.
Then it is time to do the Birthday in a Bag community service project.
Nex, it is party time! Play some games to get the wiggles out.
You can play games like:
- Pin the Tail on the Donkey (or Pin the Candle on the Birthday Cake)
- Musical Chairs
- Freeze Dance
- Spoon and Egg Race
- Balloon Pop (girls have to sit on balloons and pop as many as they can)
- Limbo
- Pictionary
Now it is time for the party craft!

Find White Paper Lunch Bags in Bulk on Amazon
The girls will decorate their goody bag with markers and stickers. Make sure their names are on the bag.
When the craft is done, the girls will place the bags on a table, standing up and open, in a line. Each girl will then get the goody she brought and place one in each bag. Staple shut when done.
Cupcake Time
If you have time, girls can decorate cupcakes or you can bring in cupcakes for them to eat. Bring in candles and place in each girls’ cupcake. Sing “Happy Birthday” to Juliette, blow out the candles, and enjoy!
When the meeting is over, the girls will take their goody bags home.
And that is how you plan an easy Girl Scout Founder’s Day Meeting!
