The Girl Scouts of the USA is making more big program changes in the Spring of 2027. Here is how you can register for the Explore What’s Next Webinar.
Girl Scouts is evolving, and troop leaders should take time to learn what’s coming next. The Girl Scout Explore What’s Next webinar is worth checking out if you want to understand upcoming program changes and how they may affect your troop’s badge work, awards, and meeting plans.
Whether you lead Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, or Ambassadors, staying informed can help you plan ahead and avoid spending time and money on resources that may soon change.
What Is Girl Scouts Explore What’s Next?
Girl Scouts of the USA is updating its program offerings to better reflect the interests and needs of today’s girls. These changes include new program themes, updates to leadership awards, and a new approach to organizing activities and resources. It also includes which badges are retiring and new ones that will be added this spring.
Why Should Troop Leaders Pay Attention?
If your troop wants to continue to earn certain badges, you will need to know what will be retiring. That way you can order online and stock up before the shops run out.
Learning about the upcoming changes can help you:
- Plan your troop year more effectively. Understand the direction of the program before committing to activities and long-term plans.
- Prepare older Girl Scouts for their next steps. Leadership Awards are particularly important for girls working toward the Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards.
- Answer parent questions. Families may hear about changes and want to know what they mean for their Girl Scout.
What About Existing Girl Scout Resources?
One of the biggest questions leaders may have is what happens to the resources they already use. If you have purchased badge activities, created a meeting calendar, or planned your year around existing programs, you will want to understand how the transition affects those plans.
Always remember that even though a badge is retired, it is still an official badge that your girls can earn. They are just harder to find as time goes on.
GSUSA has indicated that additional program updates and a new digital Program Library are expected in spring 2027. The Explore What’s Next information page provides a starting point for understanding the changes and deciding what to do now.
Take Time to Explore What’s Next
Girl Scout leaders volunteer countless hours to give girls meaningful experiences. Staying informed about national program changes is one more way to make that time count.
