There are three Girl Scout holidays on the calendar. The first is Girl Scout Founder’s Day, which takes place on October 31st. The second is World Thinking Day, which is February 22nd.
The third holiday is Girl Scout Week, which takes place around the same time each year in March. It always falls sometime during the week of March 12th, which is the day Juliette Gordon Low founded the Girl Scout movement.
When is Girl Scout Week 2025?
This year, Girl Scout Week 2025 takes place from March 9th through March 15th.
When a troop celebrates Girl Scout Week, most of the activities are individual. The exception to this is when a girl goes to her place of worship to celebrate to participate in the service. This year, those dates are:
Girl Scout Sunday (Christian)—Sunday, March 9, 2025
Girl Scout Jummah (Muslim)—Friday, Friday, March 14, 2025
Girl Scout Sabbath/Shabbat (Jewish)—Friday, March 14 – Saturday, March 16, 2025
Girl Scout Week 2025 Faith Celebrations
While Girl Scouts is not a faith based organization, it does recognize that many scouts do have a faith. Your synagogue, temple, church, or mosque may be sponsoring scouts during this week. Check with your clergy to see if they are participating. If not, this would be a great time to start this tradition in your house of worship.
From the GSUSA website:
Girl Scout Week is a time when we shout our Girl Scout pride from the rooftops! It’s also a time when many troops celebrate the connections between Girl Scouting and their faith, learn more about other faiths, and thank faith partners for their support throughout the year. Girls can join in the festivities on three specially designated dates (or a day of your choosing).
The GSUSA has fliers and sample services for Girl Scout Week 2025. You can find them here.
Girl Scout Week 2025 is an Optional Activity
While it is fun for your girls to celebrate Girl Scout Week, it is an optional activity and always has been. This is an individual series of things to do and not a troop activity led by a leader. The girls in your troop need family support in order to accomplish the daily activity, especially when they are younger.
If a girl opts out of doing this, no need for you to stress. I had girls not participate and they did not get their Girl Scout Week patch from our Council. It was fine.
If your girls do participate, you can give them a Girl Scout Week certificate.

Free Girl Scout Week 2025 Resources for Leaders
I went back to my previous two years of blog posts about Girl Scout Week activities and updated them. The links in each post are still viable. As always, ignore the date on the charts and sites I have linked to. The activities are all that matter and are still very useful!
One thing new leaders need to remember is that these resources are a guide. Always do what works for your troop and for you. You can combine different activities from these lists or make up your own. You can also check your Council website to see if there are any activities or events that your troop can participate in.
- Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee Your Council website has activities for Girl Scout Week. This is one example of what was available in 2019.
- Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona has their own list of things that troops can do on their own or individually.
- Girl Scout Troop 1584 Do not pay attention to the date…this link is to provide you with an idea of what you can make for your girls if you choose to. My suggestion is to give 2-3 options for each day.
- Girl Scouts of Western Ohio
- Girl Scouts of Orange County
- Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast
- Girl Scouts of the Virginia Skyline
- Girl Scouts of Maine
- Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways
- Girl Scouts North-Central Alabama
- Girl Scouts Carolina Peaks to Piedmont
- Girl Scouts of Silver Sage
- Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay
