In order to have a successful selling season, your troop needs to know how to act in public. Here are free Girl Scout cookie booth etiquette contracts you can utilize to set goals and expectations.
One of the most popular and successful ways for your troop to sell a lot of cookies in a short amount of time is to have booth sales. If you get the right location, your cartons will be empty in a short amount of time.
Girl Scout cookie booths are a lot of work for leaders and they are also very exciting for most girls. That being said, your troop is doing something outside of their regular meetings, where behavior expectations have been discussed and agreed upon. The same expectations are necessary when your troop has their Girl Scout cookie booth.
While my troop only sold cookies three times, I distinctly remember during our Service Unit cookie meeting that the girls had to be kept under control. Apparently, the year before, as a certain location, the Daisy Scouts were out of control. They were running and yelling, and their leaders did nothing to stop it. The merchants did not want any troops selling in that location the following year.
When you have your parent cookie meeting, as well as your troop cooking meeting, you will need to go over expected behaviors and the consequences of not following the agreed upon rule. For the girl meeting, acting out of the rules (like no yelling or running near the booth or why they need to wear closed toe shoes) gives a more concrete way to explain why they need to not do those things.
Note: While making sure that the rules in the contract are met, please be aware of any neurodivergent girls in your troop who may need to have the rules explained to them with reasoning. For example, a girl with ADHD may need to move more than a girl who does not. Can she dance with green and white pom poms or a cookie sign to get attention, which will help get the wiggles out?
I have found several Girl Scout Cookie Booth contracts that you can use and adapt for your girls’ needs. You can use these as a guide and along with your troop, make your own Girl Scout cookie booth contract. That is girl-led!
