Congratulations, Daisy leaders! You’ve made it through your first exciting year of leading a troop—and now, you’re back for round two. During your first year, you laid the foundation for a fun and meaningful experience for your girls. Now it’s time to build on that momentum and help your returning Daisies continue to grow as leaders, friends, and community members. It is also a time to welcome new girls into your troop.
What’s Different for Girl Scout Daisies in Year Two?
With your second year with Girl Scout Daisies, you will typically see growth and maturity. Their fine motor skills are better, and many can sit still and focus for a longer period of time. This will make leading easier for you. Most of he girls already know the Girl Scout Promise and Law, are more confident in group settings, and are beginning to explore their independence. There are more opportunites for this year to be more girl led.
Leader Tips for a Smooth Second Year of Daisy Scouts
- Simplify and Delegate: Don’t be afraid to ask for help and delegate tasks to your troop families. Form a parent helper group early in the year to avoid last-minute stress. Just be sure any adult helping has had their background checked.
- Reflect and Refresh: Take a moment to look back on what worked well last year—and what didn’t. Use that experience to adjust your meeting structure or communication style this year.
- Celebrate Growth: Take time to notice how far the girls (and you!) have come.
