Updated December 2019

According to the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, there are approximately 10 million girls from 150 countries who are involved with scouting around the world. Each year on February 22nd, this sisterhood is celebrated.

According to the Girl Scouts of the USA website:

World Thinking Day originated in 1926. That’s when delegates from around the globe met at Camp Edith Macy—now called Edith Macy Conference Center—in New York State and agreed that February 22 would henceforth be known as a special day for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts worldwide.

Every year since, World Thinking Day has called for Girl Scouts and Girl Guides to join together and take part in activities that promote changing the world for the better.

Each year a different theme is selected. For World Thinking Day 2019 the theme is leadership.

One way the girls will enjoy celebrating is with food. After eliminating foods that girls cannot eat due to dietary and/or allergy reasons, plan on either making a sweet at the meeting or bringing one in that you prepared at home for the girls to try.
