Is your troop in need of a Journey to do in a short amount of time? Here are the Girl Scout Senior Girltopia Journey resources for leaders that I used to do this in three days with my troop.
Updated August 2022
Last summer, my troop did the Girl Scout Senior Mission:Sisterhood Journey over the course of two days. (You can read how they did it in these blog posts.) They all want to go for the Gold, so since they did not earn the Silver Award, we are required to do two Journeys.

The other troop leader was speaking to a woman who had five of her girls earn the Gold this year. One thing she mentioned was that the girls should finish it by the end of their Junior year so they can put it on their college applications. Brilliant thinking! Not only will that be a fantastic item to add to a college application, but the last year of scouting together can be more laid back and filled with adventures. There is enough stress when applying to college during Senior year (been there, done that with my older daughter), and not having one more goal to achieve is priceless. Two years should be enough time to work on eighty hours of service.
With that in mind, it was time to do our second Journey. We decided on Girltopia instead of Sow What.
Preparing for the Girltopia Senior Girl Scout Journey
If I am to be honest, putting this Journey together was not as easy as Mission:Sisterhood. I was trying to figure out why that was. Then I realized that last spring my son was in physical therapy three days a week for two months. I remember doing a lot of prep work and research during that down time while I was waiting. I was more than ready when it was time to implement it with my girls.
The other reason it was more challenging was simply because there are far fewer online resources for leaders to utilize. Apparently this is not one of the more popular Journeys at this level.

Resources for Leading Girltopia
I purchased the Leader’s Guide/Girl book set from the Girl Scout store, as this is the best buy anywhere. In addition, here are some other resources for leaders to utilize.
Girl Scouts of Gateway Council
Girl Scout Leader 411 Blog (Making Friends)
Girl Scouts of Central Texas
Dawn’s Ideas and Creations (scouting related) Facebook Group (request to join and you can access the files for this and other Journeys)
After trying to put it together, I decided to purchase Jodi Carlson’s Girltopia Guide since I was having a challenging time streamlining the most necessary components. It was a very good spend and her guide helped me get to the important points.
It took some time, and I finally pieced together a Journey that will take 2-3 days for my girls to complete.
I will share what we did in the next blog post.
My daughter is a Senior Scout and trying to complete her journey as one of the Gold Award requirements. She’s the only person remain in the troop since elementary school. Can you advise which journey is best for girls who are doing this along to meet the Gold Award requirement? And are you willing to share your guide/ resources with me as a parent? Thank you.
Hello Joy! In this blog post I have shared all of the resources I used. Just click on the links. I also have two other blog posts for this Journey…the first one is linked at the bottom of this post and the second is at the bottom of that post. Please check your Council for your Gold Award Journey requirement. My girls did two Journeys as Girl Scout Seniors since we did not do the Silver Award.
