Updated January 2024
Last year, almost all troops were meeting virtually. This year, many troops can meet in person, while others are not. No matter how you are meeting, your troop can celebrate Girl Scout Week 2022.
When is Girl Scout Week 2022?
This year, Girl Scout Week 2022 takes place from March 6th through March 12th.
When a troop celebrates Girl Scout Week, most of the activities are individual. The exception to that is when a girl goes to her place of worship to celebrate to participate in the service. This year, those dates are:
Girl Scout Sunday (Christian)—Sunday, March 6, 2022
Girl Scout Jummah (Muslim)—Friday, March 11, 2022
Girl Scout Sabbath/Shabbat (Jewish)—Friday/Saturday, March 11–132 2022
Girl Scout Week 2022 Celebrate Faith Resources
From the GSUSA website:
Girl Scout Week is a time when we shout our Girl Scout pride from the rooftops! It’s also a time when many troops celebrate the connections between Girl Scouting and their faith, learn more about other faiths, and thank faith partners for their support throughout the year. Girls can join in the festivities on three specially designated dates (or a day of your choosing).
At the GSUSA website, there is an entire page of activities for girls of all faiths.
Find all of the information here.
There is also a guidebook called Girl Scout Week Sensitive Issues and FAQs from Girl Scouts Carolina Peaks to Piedmont. This will help leaders who have troops of girls with diverse faiths and also answer some questions about topics that leaders sometimes face.
Girl Scout Week is an Optional Activity
While it is fun for your girls to celebrate Girl Scout Week, it is an optional activity and always has been. This is because this is an individual thing to do not, not a troop activity led by a leader. The girls in your troop need family support in order to accomplish the daily activity, especially when they are younger.
If a girl opts out of doing this, no need for you to stress. I had girls not participate and they did not get their Girl Scout Week patch from our Council. It’s fine.
How to Celebrate Girl Scout Week 2022
Every year around this time, I do research to find you the latest activities that the GSUSA and Councils across the country have put out.
For now, there are many councils offering their own programming for Girl Scout Week 2022. Check your Council’s website to see what is taking place locally. I am adding to the list as I find more online resources for you.
In the meantime, you can check out my post from last year, Girl Scout Week 2021. It includes many resources and the date does not matter. All of the links are viable.
