Since the pandemic, there has been a larger focus on mental wellness. Your troop can keep a journal as part of earning badges.

Journaling is the act of keeping a record of your personal thoughts, feelings, insights, and more. It can be written, drawn, or typed. It can be on paper or on your computer. It’s a simple, low-cost way of improving your mental health, and it is something that many therapists recommend their patients do to track their emotions.
According to WebMD, journaling helps reduce anxiety and brooding. It creates awareness, regulates emotions, and encourages people to open up about themselves.
Journals do not just have to be writing words. They can also be used for drawing how you feel.
Girl Scout Badges that Can Use Journals
There are Girl Scout badges that help your girls focus on their well being. While the girls will not be journaling during troop meetings, giving them a journal can be part of one of the steps to complete the badge.
- Girl Scout Brownie My Best Self
- Retired Girl Scout Junior Stress Less Badge (I have two blog posts on how my troop earned it) I also have the badges in my Etsy shop.
- Girl Scout Cadette Science of Happiness badge
