If your daughter is heading for college or trade school in the fall, here are some Girl Scout Gold Award Scholarships and other secondary education scholarships that she can apply to.
She did it! Your daughter earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest honor one can achieve. What an incredible accomplishment for her. Earning the award demonstrates many skills, such as creating a focused plan, overcoming obstacles, follow-through, budget management, and most importantly, leadership.And congratulations on your graduating Ambassador Scout! Her impending Bridge to Adult ceremony is quite the milestone. Very few girls stick with Girl Scouts until they graduate high school. Even if she did not earn the Gold Award, all of the skills she has learned while scouting are things she will take with her for the rest of her life. While earning the Girl Scout Gold Award does not automatically admit you to any school, it is an accomplishment that very few can put on the applications.
If the project is not complete during the school application process, they can write “Girl Scout Award Candidate” on their application.
Whether your daughter is heading to trade school or college, there are Girl Scout Gold Award scholarships that she can apply to locally:
- Your local Service Unit or Council
- High School
- Local community clubs
- The school where your scout is applying to (ask about “Leadership Scholarships”)
When researching these scholarships, be aware of the application deadlines.
The GSUSA Gold Award Scholarship
Located on the GSUSA website, the organization offers a $5,000 for post-secondary education, which includes trade schools. There are specific qualifications and the window for applying is in the months of March to April.
