If you are a Jewish Ambassador Girl Scout, there is still time to send in your application for the National Jewish Committee on Girl Scout Scholarship.
The National Jewish Committee on Girl Scouting (NJCGS) is a unique organization that works in partnership with Girl Scouts of the USA to support and enrich the experience of Jewish girls in Girl Scouting. As a nonprofit committee, its mission is to build a bridge between Girl Scouting and the Jewish community by promoting faith-based opportunities, cultural understanding, and inclusive participation.
One of the primary ways NJCGS fulfills its mission is through its nationally recognized Jewish religious award programs. These awards, such as Liorit, Lehavah, Bat Or, Menorah, and Or Emunah, are designed for girls from kindergarten through high school. Each program helps Girl Scouts explore Jewish values, traditions, and heritage in age-appropriate ways. For example, younger girls might learn about family traditions and holidays, while older girls dive deeper into ethics, history, Israel, and personal identity. These awards not only strengthen a girl’s connection to her faith, but also complement the leadership and service goals of Girl Scouting.
Beyond awards, NJCGS plays an important role in helping Jewish girls feel seen and supported within the broader Girl Scout community. NJCGS also provides helpful resources like holiday calendars, prayers, and guidance for accommodating observant girls during activities such as camping. These efforts ensure that girls can fully participate in Girl Scouts while honoring their religious practices.
National Jewish Committee on Girl Scouting Scholarship for Ambassadors
The deadline is coming soon!
For older Girl Scouts, especially those in high school, NJCGS offers an exciting opportunity through its scholarship program. Graduating Ambassadors who have earned both the prestigious Girl Scout Gold Award and the Or Emunah religious award are eligible to apply for a scholarship to support their post-high school education. While the monetary amount may vary, the scholarship recognizes years of dedication to leadership, service, and faith. It is a meaningful way to celebrate a girl’s commitment to both Girl Scouting and her Jewish identity.
Graduating Ambassadors should strongly consider applying for this scholarship. Not only does it provide financial support for college, trade school, or vocational school, but it also highlights a unique combination of achievements that set applicants apart. Earning both the Gold Award and the Or Emunah award demonstrates initiative, perseverance, and a deep connection to community and values. Applying for the scholarship is also a great way for girls to reflect on their journey and be recognized for the impact they’ve made.
The application deadline for 2026 is April 30th. Those who earn the scholarship will be notified June 15, 2026.
