Back in the day, it was an insult to tell a young male athlete that he “throws like a girl”. After all, girls were not strong or athletic, and you could probably add not being very coordinated for sports that involved throwing a ball. While women were fine athletes in track and field or gymnastics, anything involving a ball was not something females could do better than males.
Of course, that is silly.

But that way of thinking still persists in some parts of society.
Rachele Alpine has written a Young Adult novel that tween girls will enjoy reading. It is entitled You Throw Like a Girl. It is Available on Amazon.
Gabby is looking forward to having a great summer, but plans change when her father is deployed. Her mom takes the family to Grandma’s farm for the summer, where things go downhill from there. In order to play ball, she must hide the fact that she is a girl. Throw in a beauty pageant and it quickly becomes the worst summer.
The You Throw Like a Girl Patch Program is based on this book. This can be done as a troop activity or one done independently. The program is free and the patch is $2.50.
You can find the requirements here at the author’s website.
Please send me 24 patches.
MaryAnn-
I cannot send you patches because I am not running the program. Please click on the link in the blog post and go to the website that has the information.
The throw like a girl patch program should be removed. I bought 4 books, had my girls read them, paid the money via PayPal and never got the patches. I had to request a refund. Very disappointing.
I am sorry that this was your experience. You are the first person to say something and the program has been around for a while. Items get lost in the mail and sometimes life happens. While I am publishing your comment, I do not like to judge something based on one person. If I hear from others that have had that same experience, then I will take it down.
There isn’t anything in your link. Is this no longer a patch opportunity? I think my girls would absolutely love it. But I’m not finding where I can apply for the patches. The link doesn’t lead anywhere but a dead end
The link at the end of the post is working, where it reads “Find the requirements here”. I do not know what you are clicking on.
