Are you one of the lucky leaders, like me, who is privileged to still lead a troop of amazing young women? When I started my Girl Scout leader journey eleven years ago, I wanted to make it an incredible experience for my younger daughter.  My older daughter had an interesting five years as a scout, and dropped out in fifth grade like many girls do. I did not want that for my younger daughter.

My troop has been as large as twelve and presently stands at three strong. The girls get along very well, despite the arsenic number of three that barely bodes well for girls. Besides my daughter, one other girl has been with me since kindergarten. The other girl joined our troop in fifth grade. Watching them grow up has really been a pleasure for me.

As we approach spring, my band of Seniors will be bridging to Ambassadors. While Pinterest is full of cute ideas for younger girls, there is not a lot out there for older girls. Busy high schoolers deserve to have a ceremony celebrating that milestone, complete with a family celebration afterwards.

Below you will find a list of resources for planning your Girl Scout Senior to Ambassador bridging ceremony. Of course, these high schoolers should be in the thick of planning it with you.

Bridging at this level is called “Soar to Ambassador”.  Have each girl take a resource and help plan out what needs to be done.

Girl Scouts of the USA has requirements for Seniors to complete if they want to earn their bridging patch. There is no actual requirement for bridging…girls automatically go to the next level when they change grades at school.

The girls can start here.

Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri also have an online guide for bridging.

Girl Scouts of Connecticut have a layout of what the girls should do before and during the ceremony. Scroll down to page 24 to find it.

Girl Scouts of Northern California have a guide for each level, including Ambassadors.

Girl Scouts River Valleys has a guide you can download.

    • Cindy, thank you for asking. Due to personal matters and then Covid, we were unable to have a Senior to Ambassador ceremony. We had a beautiful Bridge to Adult ceremony this past May.

  • There are no requirements to Bridge up to another level besides moving up to the appropriate grade. If they would like to EARN the BRIDGING PATCH then there are requirements.

    • You are absolutely correct! Where do you see that written? I have an entire blog post with bridging questions and answers, and I answered this specific question.
